Rabobank strengthens threat protection while empowering employees to work on the go

Rabobank, a global financial services cooperative with more than 40,000 employees, needed a better way to protect sensitive data across its worldwide workforce and 42,000 endpoints. Its existing on-premises Symantec DLP setup was difficult to maintain across regions, didn’t cover mobile devices well, and made it hard to balance privacy, compliance, and productivity. Rabobank turned to Microsoft Azure services, specifically Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention, as part of its Microsoft 365 environment.

Microsoft Azure helped Rabobank roll out a cloud-based DLP approach that centralized policy management, reduced the number of rules, and protected data across Microsoft 365 apps and key channels like USB drives, browsers, and printers. The bank completed a smooth global migration from Symantec to Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention, saw no incidents after several weeks of rollout, improved employee experience with in-app notifications, and freed its small IT team from maintaining agents and on-premises infrastructure so it could focus on higher-value work.
