Higher Ed Profiles is a New Hampshire startup (founded 2015) that offers an affordable, easy-to-use SaaS analytics and reporting platform for small and midsize higher-education institutions. Built on PostgreSQL, the service needed sub‑three‑second query responses while avoiding the high cost and operational complexity of traditional enterprise analytics systems; managing web servers, operating systems, and databases was consuming developer time and limiting feature work.

The company moved its app to Microsoft Azure through BizSpark and migrated its PostgreSQL databases to the fully managed Azure Database for PostgreSQL. The transition was quick (a few hours using pg_dump/psql), maintained performance, and removed most database administration and patching tasks. As a result, Higher Ed Profiles dramatically reduced maintenance overhead and freed its developers to focus on product improvements and customer requests.
