Protecting the public and police officers with Getac Veretos video evidence management in the Microsoft Government Cloud

The Charleston Police Department, which fields 459 sworn officers, was rapidly outgrowing its city-hosted IT infrastructure as it expanded in‑car and body‑worn camera deployments and other video systems integrated with the Getac Veretos evidence management platform. The department faced scaling, storage, bandwidth and CJIS‑compliance challenges as camera counts grew (from about 140 body cameras toward 360) and demanded more reliable, accessible systems to support day‑to‑day operations and public safety.

Charleston migrated its Veretos environment to Getac Veretos Cloud built on Microsoft Azure Government, a CJIS‑compliant government cloud. The move automated secure video upload and remote viewing, increased reliability and data throughput, reduced load on city servers, simplified management and information sharing, and delivered the scalability needed for rapid video-data growth—improving situational awareness and officer safety while lowering infrastructure maintenance.
