WorldSmart, an Adelaide‑headquartered provider of POS, loyalty and digital marketing technology to independent grocers across Australia, faced a new challenge: turning the vast customer data it captured into clear, actionable insights. While retailers understood sales symptoms, they lacked causation and analytic capability, so WorldSmart set out to make analytics accessible and practical for smaller chains and franchises.

WorldSmart launched WorldSmart BI on the Microsoft stack (Power BI, Azure Stream Analytics, SQL Server 2016), revamped its loyalty and personalized email/SMS programs, and added machine‑learning forecasts such as automatic reordering. The outcome: roughly 400 retailers using Power BI, case wins like Hill Street Grocer achieving store‑by‑store visibility, real‑time budgeting and weather‑driven stocking, tangible profit improvements from data‑driven changes, and a company transformation from a POS vendor into an analytics provider supporting hundreds of stores and thousands of users.
