Hamburg Port Authority (HPA), operator of Europe’s third-largest port in historic Hamburg, faced rising trade volumes, space constraints and the need to manage traffic, incidents and community sentiment in real time. To make split-second decisions, reroute traffic when problems arise and remain a good neighbor to local residents, HPA needed a way to detect incidents and gauge public opinion across social channels.
HPA deployed Microsoft Social Engagement and Dynamics 365 with Azure Machine Learning to automatically tag and sentiment-analyze social posts, send alerts to staff and convert priority items into cases for action. The solution improved incident awareness and response times, enabled automated recognition of language variations, streamlined communication workflows (including rerouting logistics), and increased overall operational efficiency and responsiveness.
