P:Cubed turns to Azure for disaster recovery

P:Cubed is a South African, analytically driven marketing services firm (50–999 employees) that provides data, advanced analytics and customer engagement solutions across industries. After deploying a Microsoft Parallel Data Warehouse (PDW) appliance to support mission‑critical workloads, the company needed a reliable, cost‑effective business continuity and disaster recovery solution.

P:Cubed implemented an Azure‑based disaster recovery environment for its PDW and migrated SQL workloads to the cloud, doing the in‑house build, test and deployment in about one month. The Azure approach reduced network and storage costs with pay‑for‑use pricing, incurred secondary‑infrastructure costs only on failover, was quick to set up and test, and has given the company confidence to pursue a fuller cloud migration.
