Case Study: Visiting Nurse Service of New York achieves fast, HIPAA-compliant Office 365 migration and IT consolidation with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York Case Study

Nursing organization speeds migration, consolidates IT infrastructure with help from customer success service

Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY), a large not-for-profit home healthcare provider with about 5,000 employees serving 30,000 patients daily, needed to consolidate a fragmented IT environment, move its site to a new domain, and migrate 12,000 Office 365 accounts and thousands of mailboxes while preserving HIPAA-compliant access for clinicians who rely on mobile apps and multiple SaaS tools. With a small IT team and complex on-premises systems, VNSNY required external expertise to complete the project on schedule and minimize disruption to patient care.

Using Microsoft FastTrack delivered by SADA Systems, VNSNY implemented Azure Active Directory, SSO, MFA, self-service password reset, automated licensing and provisioning scripts, and phased mailbox migrations scheduled after shifts. The result: the migration completed on time, vendor consolidation and easier licensing administration, about two hours per day saved in Exchange maintenance, faster device imaging and deployment, stronger HIPAA-compliant security, and improved IT staff skills and self-sufficiency.
