A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Partners In Health (PIH) is a Boston‑founded nonprofit that delivers modern medical care to marginalized communities worldwide. With 15,000 staff across 10 countries, PIH struggled with fragmented email and document‑sharing systems, poor identity management, and unreliable access in remote field sites—issues that slowed care delivery, risked data security, and diverted resources from frontline services.
PIH adopted Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Skype for Business) and built an Azure‑based identity solution, with implementation support from Perficient. The cloud rollout standardized global communication and collaboration for thousands of users, improved mobile productivity and data security, enabled rapid crisis mobilization (eg, during the Ebola response), and avoided roughly $250,000 in hardware costs—freeing funds and capacity for frontline care.
