Case Study: Dangote Industries Limited achieves improved uptime and resilient hybrid backup with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the Dangote Industries Limited Case Study

Nigeria-based pan-African giant delivering full uptime and great service to users via hybrid cloud

Dangote Industries Limited, a $3B Nigeria-based pan‑African conglomerate with operations across multiple sectors, faced frequent power outages, long lead times for datacenter hardware, and the need for greater IT resilience as it scaled (including a new refinery project). Having seen positive results from migrating email and SharePoint to Office 365, the company sought a cautious, hybrid-cloud approach that preserved its on‑premises investments while improving uptime and disaster recovery.

Partnering with Lotus Beta Analytics, Dangote moved to a hybrid Microsoft Azure solution using StorSimple for cloud storage and Azure Site Recovery for DRaaS, and migrated a key EMC Documentum ECM and SAP backups to Azure. The rollout delivered faster, more reliable backups and disaster recovery, improved collaboration for about 5,000 knowledge workers, and established a more stable environment that reduces inefficiencies across the conglomerate.
