First Gas, a New Zealand pipeline company formed by a 2016 merger, faced a tight greenfield IT challenge: stand up 10 line‑of‑business applications and a complete infrastructure in just four months to avoid costly SAP leasing and quickly operate independently.

Working with local partner Theta, First Gas built on the Microsoft cloud—Dynamics 365 for CRM, Dynamics NAV 2016 for finance (on‑premises initially) and Azure services (Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus, Functions, Monitor)—to connect and orchestrate the systems. Using 16 logic apps across 12 integration points, the team completed the integration in about a month, delivered the full solution within the four‑month deadline, saved millions in third‑party fees, and gained elastic scalability, higher availability and continuous monitoring.
