NetApp Enhances SAN Replication for Disaster Recovery with Site Recovery Capability

NetApp, a Sunnyvale-based leader in storage and data management with more than 12,000 employees, faced customer demand for stronger disaster recovery (DR) for Hyper-V environments. While Hyper-V Replica handled individual VMs, customers lacked an easy way to replicate and orchestrate failover for multitier workloads, test recovery plans without disrupting production, or confidently virtualize business‑critical applications.

NetApp partnered with Microsoft to support Azure Site Recovery (ASR), integrating ASR with NetApp SnapMirror, SMI‑S and FlexClone to enable orchestrated site‑to‑site failover, nondisruptive testing, and efficient storage scaling. The result is a more comprehensive, flexible and cost‑effective DR offering that lets customers protect entire private clouds, customize RPO/RTO, bring workloads online in minutes, and reduce management overhead.
