A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Mystifly, a global airfare consolidator whose MyFareBox platform serves thousands of travel customers, faced a major infrastructure challenge: wildly variable traffic with sudden spikes and seasonal swings. Their existing cloud provider had slow procurement, limited scalability and maintenance issues that caused outages and poor performance, so Mystifly sought a cost-effective, elastic platform with higher availability and faster compute.
In May 2014 Mystifly migrated to Microsoft Azure in a two-phase move—upgrading VM families and later moving to higher-spec EA instances, migrating SQL Server to Premium storage and configuring Always On—with close support from Microsoft and Brainscale. The result was rapid, pay-as-you-use scaling, 24/7 availability, much faster compute, interaction volumes up more than 1,000% after EA and 1,800% post-migration, only two downtimes, lower recovery and maintenance costs, and freed resources to focus on product innovation.
