Mosaic uses Microsoft Azure to help the world grow the food it needs

The Mosaic Company, one of the world’s largest producers of phosphate and potash crop nutrients, relied on a single global SAP instance to run its financial, commercial and supply‑chain operations for over 2,000 users. Facing the need to lower costs, boost agility, scale capacity and improve availability, Mosaic set out to modernize its SAP and line‑of‑business systems that were constrained by its traditional datacenter model.

Working with Capgemini, Mosaic migrated its SAP environment from Oracle/AIX to Microsoft Azure using Azure IaaS, ExpressRoute, Premium Storage, Azure Backup and Office 365, with Capgemini providing design, migration and managed operations. The move delivered 20–30% faster SAP performance, the ability to spin up compute resources in hours instead of weeks, simplified patching and operations, and an estimated ~20% annual cost savings while shifting Mosaic’s focus away from hardware ownership to delivering higher‑value cloud services.
