Mobility, Flexibility and Digital Inclusion at Wales’ Oldest Royal Chartered University

University of Wales Trinity Saint David needed a more flexible, mobile way to support its multi-campus staff and students as it moved toward hybrid learning and remote working. With employees spread across several locations, the university wanted to replace multiple devices per person and simplify IT management, while improving digital access and collaboration.

Using Microsoft Azure alongside Microsoft Surface devices and Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Azure helped UWTSD roll out a one-device-per-user model, enable zero-touch deployment, and strengthen security with Azure Active Directory and other Microsoft tools. The results included the remote rollout of 350 staff devices, over 800 IT hours saved in the last 12 months, and the distribution of 1,000 more Surface Go devices to students to help close the digital divide.
