A Microsoft Azure Case Study
San Miguel, an Argentine citrus producer with a 60-year history and operations in Argentina, Uruguay and South Africa, needed easy-to-implement tools to speed operations, strengthen collaboration and make information more available so it could scale and consolidate global growth. The company’s challenge was to support a distributed, time-sensitive supply chain and improve productivity while projecting future expansion.
San Miguel moved its email to Office 365 (more than 500 accounts) and migrated core infrastructure to Azure—adopting virtual machines for development and testing, Azure backup, and beginning a partial SAP ERP move to the cloud—while using Microsoft collaboration tools like Skype for Business. The result: faster communication, higher availability and accessibility, greater deployment speed and scalability during peak production, and the ability to reallocate IT effort to process improvement; the company is now exploring IoT tracking and Power BI analytics to further boost efficiency.
