Case Study: ShinMaywa Industries achieves service-led transformation and 10% order growth with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the ShinMaywa Case Study

Microsoft Azure helps manufacturing giant ShinMaywa switch its business from products to services

ShinMaywa Industries’ Fluid Division, a leading maker of turbo blowers used in sewage and industrial wastewater treatment, needed to move from selling products to delivering services as equipment became commoditized. Customers faced long downtimes and heavy maintenance demands because operators couldn’t see blower status remotely, while an aging workforce increased demand for manufacturer support and predictive maintenance.

ShinMaywa partnered with SoftBank and SB Technology to launch KNOWTILUS, an Azure‑based IoT remote‑monitoring service using IoT Core Connect and Azure IoT Hub. The platform delivers console‑like remote screens, trend charts, alerts and automated reports, was developed in nine months, and made support faster and maintenance more efficient. Since launch, turbo blower orders rose about 10%, public awareness doubled to tripled, customer satisfaction and operational uptime improved, and ShinMaywa is expanding the service across its product lines.
