Case Study: viaSport achieves broader sport accessibility and faster, personalized responses with Microsoft Azure chatbot

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the viaSport Case Study

Microsoft and viaSport team up to improve sport accessibility in British Columbia

viaSport is a British Columbia not‑for‑profit created after the 2010 Paralympic Games to build a more inclusive sport culture across the province. With more than 661,000 registered members and responsibility for connecting people to play, coach, officiate and volunteer, viaSport struggled to efficiently respond to a high volume of individual inquiries and to deliver tailored information for people with diverse needs and abilities.

To solve this, viaSport partnered with Microsoft to deploy an intelligent chatbot built on Azure and the LUIS-enabled bot framework. The chatbot delivers contextual, personalized answers by ability, interest and location, reduces staff workload, provides faster and more private responses for users, and captures analytics for continuous improvement — with plans to add voice, mobile access, resource ranking and sentiment analysis to further expand accessibility and service quality.
