A Microsoft Azure Case Study
LG CNS, a large Korean IT services company, expanded into the U.S. medical information market to address the limits of on‑premise electronic health record (EHR) solutions. Facing fragmented paper records, hospital reluctance to share data, and small nursing homes’ inability to build their own systems, LG CNS needed a cloud approach that met local regulations, supported interoperability, and enabled scalable, low‑cost deployment.
Using Microsoft Azure and Azure SQL Database, LG CNS converted its EHR products into modular SaaS offerings—running core services on IaaS with PaaS components for performance and future data warehousing. The cloud solution lowered installation and maintenance burdens, improved data sharing through EHR standards, enabled expansion into the U.S. without a local data center, and shifted the company from one‑time SI projects to recurring service revenue with a roadmap for analytics and machine‑learning on accumulated patient data.
