Manufacturer Uses Hybrid Cloud Model to Gain Increased Storage, Unprecedented Agility

GF Health Products, a U.S. manufacturer and distributor of medical and rehabilitation equipment, faced rapidly growing data from new digital systems and virtualization that exhausted its SAN capacity. Its small IT team struggled to provision storage and keep pace with diverse business-unit needs, and management resisted the high capital cost of a second datacenter for disaster recovery.

Working with partner Intellinet, GF Health adopted a Microsoft hybrid cloud: StorSimple with Windows Azure for cloud-integrated storage and VMs, and Windows Server 2012 R2 with System Center 2012 R2 to build an on‑premises private cloud. The solution provided virtually limitless storage, faster provisioning of development and production servers, automated management that freed IT to focus on business priorities, and a cost-effective disaster-recovery option while eliminating recurring offsite tape costs.
