Malta seals its commitment to digital transformation with Microsoft partnership

The Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA), the Government of Malta’s central ICT delivery and policy body, needed to modernize and scale its digital services to sustain the country’s leading e‑government position. Already a Microsoft partner, MITA sought deeper engagement to drive digital transformation, improve internal efficiency across 80+ agencies and roughly 15,000 public sector staff, and open more citizen-facing services (including mobile and cloud access).

MITA signed a long‑term Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft and standardized on SharePoint as the primary delivery platform while rolling out Office 365, Skype for Business and Windows 10 and exploring an Azure-based hybrid cloud. These moves increased uptake of online productivity and collaboration tools, improved internal operations, reinforced Malta’s e‑government leadership and laid the groundwork to expand mobile and cloud services for citizens.
