Malaysia’s telecommunications leader transforms its datacenter and empowers a culture of excellence

Celcom Axiata Berhad, a leading Malaysian telco with roughly 13 million users and over 30 years in the market, faced the need to speed time-to-market, reduce infrastructure costs, and modernize operations ahead of the 5G era. The organization chose digital transformation as its path forward, prioritizing a cloud migration to meet agility, scalability, and operational efficiency goals.

Working with Microsoft (Azure FastTrack) and Tech Mahindra, Celcom used the Cloud Adoption Framework to migrate and modernize more than 800 VMs and servers, ramping migration throughput to about 50 VMs per week. The move delivered a governance baseline and security tools, 99.99% uptime SLA, improved disaster recovery, potential cost savings, upskilled staff, and positioned the company to pursue IoT, analytics, and machine-learning initiatives.
