Fero Labs is an industrial machine-learning startup that helps heavy industries—auto, chemical, oil & gas, and steel—boost factory efficiency and product quality. As manufacturing processes grew more complex and generated massive sensor data, traditional approaches like Six Sigma proved inadequate for preventing production problems and optimizing operations.

Fero built a white‑box ML platform on Microsoft Azure that ingests sensor streams, explains how inputs affect KPIs, adapts to equipment or process changes, and scales with Azure/Azure Stack. In one refinery, Fero predicted coker pipe temperatures three weeks ahead with 91% accuracy (versus 43% for Six Sigma), enabling smarter maintenance scheduling, fewer shutdowns and a projected $4 million increase in annual revenue.
