A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Damco, a global logistics and supply‑chain firm with more than 11,000 employees, set out to become a digital company to give clients better end‑to‑end visibility and faster, more proactive responses to supply‑chain disruptions. The challenge was to consolidate and analyze diverse internal and external data sources so Damco could detect problems early, reduce manual work, and bring new digital services to market more quickly and cost‑effectively.
Working with Microsoft Services, Damco built Azure‑based big‑data and analytics solutions — including the Disruptive App and a Demurrage & Detention App — using Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Event Hubs, Stream Analytics, SQL Data Warehouse, Power BI and Machine Learning. The result: real‑time disruption alerts and actionable insights, dramatically reduced manual effort, development cycles cut from months to weeks, stronger client engagement and new revenue opportunities via scalable, cost‑effective cloud infrastructure.
