A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Fathym, a Boulder-based late-stage startup, builds end-to-end IoT solutions for industries ranging from transportation and manufacturing to education and retail. Facing the need for a flexible, open-standard backend that could support rapid, customizable deployments and diverse device protocols, Fathym moved from AWS to Microsoft Azure to better enable its microservices-based platform and AMQP-enabled integrations.
On Azure the company leverages services such as Azure IoT Hub, Blob Storage, SQL Database, App Service, Virtual Machines and Stream Analytics to deliver turnkey solutions like WeatherCloud and WeatherMesh and to support custom customer dashboards and apps. The switch cut deployment times to hours, helped win customers from state transportation departments to a national trucking firm and an education provider (1,000 teachers, 20,000 students), and has driven safer, more efficient operations by delivering street-level IoT data that saves lives, time, and money.
