Case Study: Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Kuwait achieves real-time insights and streamlined airport operations with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Kuwait Case Study

Kuwait International Airport uses Microsoft Azure and Office 365 to handle growing air and passenger traffic

Kuwait International Airport, run by the Government’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), needed to modernize to handle rising flights and passenger volumes, reduce long lines and inefficient gate assignments, and prepare for a new facility to serve 25 million passengers annually. DGCA required faster, more accurate operational insights than its manual Excel-based reporting could provide.

DGCA moved core systems to Microsoft Azure (App Service, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Data Warehouse), migrated 3,000 field workers to Office 365/Teams, and streamed operational data into Power BI dashboards. The cloud solution replaced time-consuming manual analysis with real-time visualizations of passenger counts, wait times, staffing needs and gate usage, cutting costs, improving scalability and decision speed, and enabling further automation with Azure Machine Learning to boost efficiency and customer experience.
