Kohler brings the IoT revolution to your bath

Kohler, a 145‑year‑old manufacturer of kitchen and bath products, is transforming into a digital leader with smart fixtures that make homes more convenient and data‑driven. To move into the IoT market it needed software and cloud expertise, global datacenter presence, strong security for personal data, and much faster development cycles than its traditional product timelines allowed.

Kohler partnered with Microsoft and built KOHLER Konnect on Azure, using services such as Azure IoT Hub, Stream Analytics, Cosmos DB and machine learning to connect toilets, tubs, faucets, mirrors and more. The solution produced a demo in two months, cut the development cycle roughly in half, lowered startup investment, and enabled product features like remote control, predictive maintenance and continuous improvement — with commercial rollouts beginning in China and the US in 2018.
