Japanese integrator creates better IoT solutions using JBoss BRMS on Azure

SCSK, a leading Japanese system integrator, faced the common IoT challenge of ingesting and analyzing vast volumes of noisy device and sensor data while needing a flexible, scalable infrastructure for trial-and-error project work. Accurate, real-time filtering was essential to reduce signal garbage and avoid overwhelming storage and analytics systems.

SCSK combined its IoT platform with Red Hat JBoss BRMS (using its CEP engine) running on Microsoft Azure, leveraging Azure VMs (RHEL/JBoss), Azure SQL Database, Azure IoT Suite, and Power BI. The rule-based approach lets teams adjust filters without code changes—improving filtering efficiency by 20–30%—while Azure delivers fast, scalable provisioning and easy integration with other services; the solution has already attracted customer interest and is being rolled out commercially.
