Ipanema Solutions, a 25-person Michigan–based IT services firm serving hotel chains, struggled with a complex, multivendor backup environment that caused failed jobs, produced production interference, and required time‑consuming tape restores for critical data like reservations and schedules. The company needed a simpler, more reliable, and cost‑effective way to protect customer data and reduce infrastructure overhead.

Ipanema migrated customers to Microsoft Azure—leveraging Azure Backup, Virtual Machines, Virtual Network, and Azure Storage—and now backs up about 11 TB (95% of customers) to a single, encrypted, geo‑redundant platform with long‑term retention. The change improved reliability and recovery times, cut infrastructure and management costs, simplified billing, freed staff to focus on growth, and created new managed‑service revenue opportunities.
