iRiS Software Systems provides a cloud-based Guest Experience Platform (GXP) used by thousands of hotels and restaurants worldwide. Facing the need for global scale, lower hosting costs and faster delivery—and dissatisfied with a single-tenant IaaS model and its incumbent provider—iRiS set out to rework its architecture to make the business model sustainable and support rapid growth.

In 2014 iRiS re-engineered GXP as a multi-tenant solution on Microsoft Azure PaaS, adopted DevOps practices and automated CI/CD with Visual Studio Team Services. Leveraging Azure services (Queues, WebJobs, Functions, SQL Database Pools) and Microsoft support, the company sped onboarding, achieved elastic global scale, cut maintenance time and costs, and dramatically increased developer productivity—moving from biannual releases to monthly feature deployments.
