International world trade centre gains control of costly assets with cloud-based IoT

Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the region’s largest events complex, needed a scalable way to track thousands of expensive audio, video, and lighting assets across 1.3 million square feet and hundreds of back-to-back events. Manual processes and the size of the venue made accurate allocation, inventory control, and timely invoicing virtually impossible for a pool of more than 11,000 rentable items (over 7,000 commonly rented).

Working with KPIT and Microsoft Azure, DWTC deployed a cloud-based IoT solution that links on-premises sensors, gateways, iBeacon tags, and its Oracle ERP to Azure IoT Hub, Stream Analytics, Cosmos DB, and Power BI. The system delivers real-time location and usage visibility, automates equipment allocation and alerts, eliminates manual data entry, improves invoicing and inventory planning, and provides a scalable platform for future smart initiatives.
