Hungarian government unlocks the power of AI and big data to improve its education system

Digital Pedagogy, part of Hungary’s Digital Education Strategy, needed a way to use education data to tackle early school leaving and improve decision-making across the school system. Working with Microsoft Azure and partner Dmlab, the team built an AI and analytics pilot using Azure Machine Learning and Power BI to combine large volumes of education data into one database.

Microsoft Azure helped deliver a solution that analyzed data from 1,751 schools and around 15,000 data points per school. The proof of concept predicted early school-leaving tendencies with 92% accuracy and identified ways to reduce dropout rates from 50% to 30% in some cases, showing the potential for more proactive, data-driven education policy.
