How the State of Georgia is Putting an End to Gang Violence with the Cloud

The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia (PACGA) faced a growing gang problem across the state—an estimated 40,000 active members in the Atlanta metro area and hundreds more in other cities—while more than 400 law‑enforcement agencies worked in silos. Paper files, missing evidence, and inconsistent reporting made it difficult to meet the state’s gang‑statute requirements, resulting in dismissed or reduced charges and emboldened gang activity.

PACGA partnered with Formulytics and moved investigations to Microsoft Azure Government to standardize and digitize gang intelligence, share media and reports across jurisdictions, and produce court‑ready case files. The cloud solution eliminated costly infrastructure, enabled creation of over 25,000 investigative profiles and tens of thousands of links statewide, improved conviction rates, and produced a chilling effect on gang activity—with plans to expand the model beyond Georgia.
