How Peterson Disrupts the Forestry Industry with IOT

Peterson, an Astec Industries company founded in 1981, makes specialized forestry equipment and set out to modernize a traditionally manual industry. With limited in-house remote monitoring, time-consuming onsite troubleshooting, siloed systems and poor off‑site access, the company needed a way to give customers real‑time visibility into machine performance and to streamline service and parts delivery.

Working with partner Mazik Global and Microsoft technologies, Peterson deployed Azure IoT (retrofitted to existing machines and built into new ones) and moved CRM/ERP to Dynamics 365. The new Peterson+ program enables remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, over‑the‑air updates, and secure cloud access for off‑site staff—resulting in faster issue resolution, higher customer satisfaction, richer product data for continuous improvement, and a roadmap to integrate sales, service and parts into a single cloud platform.
