A Microsoft Azure Case Study
The State of Washington Health Benefit Exchange needed to modernize an aging data center with legacy software and limited storage while also meeting strict compliance and data-protection requirements for healthcare data. Working with Microsoft Azure, specifically Azure Government, they looked for a secure cloud option that could support their existing Oracle Database on Red Hat Enterprise Linux without a costly full overhaul.
Microsoft Azure implemented Azure Government to provide a flexible, FedRAMP High-compliant environment for secure data migration and stronger protection. The result was a $650,000 cost savings, no negative impact to users during the transition, faster website and portal performance, and a full project timeline of just 16 months. The Exchange also continued modernizing with Azure PaaS Services, Data Analytics, Data Warehouse, and Power BI.
