Hospital Institution Obtains High Availability and Cost Savings After Migrating to the Cloud

Hospital CIMA San José, a leading private hospital in San José, Costa Rica with about 500 employees and nearly 1,000 physicians across 60+ specialties, needed to modernize its operations by moving to an electronic medical tracking platform (Sunrise by Allscripts). Its on‑premises infrastructure was nearing capacity, required heavy upfront investment, had slow provisioning times, and could not meet the scalability, availability and security demands for patient data and new medical services.

The hospital migrated its infrastructure to Microsoft Azure and deployed Office 365, enabling rapid scaling and faster project rollout. Results included roughly 70% lower short‑term investment, server provisioning reduced from months to about 15 minutes, improved backup, monitoring and security for sensitive records, increased staff productivity via Office 365, and the ability to modernize imaging systems (PACS/RIS) with greater availability and lower ongoing costs.
