High-Performance Storage Provider Expects Tenfold Sales Boost with Link to Public Cloud

Zadara Storage is a small, Irvine-based provider of high-performance, on-demand cloud storage delivered as Virtual Private Storage Arrays (VPSA). Many Azure customers could not move their most performance-sensitive applications—clustered databases and large file repositories—to the cloud because typical cloud storage lacked consistent IOPS, clustering capability, low latency, and enterprise-grade security. Zadara set out to bridge that gap so customers could run demanding workloads in Azure without redesigning applications.

Zadara hosts storage in Equinix colocation facilities and uses Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute to create private, low-latency (1–2 ms) connections and per-customer VLANs between its systems and Azure datacenters. The solution lets customers choose block or file storage with on-the-fly changes, run clustered SQL/Oracle workloads and large repositories in Azure, and move data seamlessly between on-premises and cloud. As a result, Zadara can market to the entire Azure ecosystem and expects to grow revenues tenfold and its customer base fivefold.
