Case Study: Jabil achieves rapid private-cloud scalability and delivers servers in days with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the Jabil Case Study

Global manufacturer supports growth with private cloud on hyper-converged platform

Jabil, a global contract manufacturer with about 150,000 employees and 90 facilities in 23 countries, needed to accelerate IT capacity to keep pace with rapid growth and consolidate a sprawling footprint of 35 datacenters. Although Jabil had virtualized roughly 4,500 servers, the business required faster server delivery, simpler management, and the ability to scale capacity on demand to support new projects and acquisitions.

Jabil built a private cloud using the Microsoft stack (Windows Server 2012 R2, Hyper‑V, System Center 2012 R2, Windows Azure Pack) on a Nutanix hyper‑converged platform validated by Microsoft, with deployment help from Infront. The solution—156 Nutanix nodes hosting about 4,300 VMs across 35 datacenters—cut deployment times from months/days to hours or days, enabled future self‑service provisioning in minutes, improved performance for I/O‑demanding workloads, reduced rack units and physical hosts (projected >25%), and avoided roughly $500K in infrastructure costs (about 40% savings).
