German manufacturer better serves US customers, saves money with cloud ERP

MALA Verschluss‑Systeme, a 240‑employee German maker of aluminum screw‑top bottle caps with €38M in annual sales, expanded to the US to serve growing winery and spirits customers. The company needed to manage its new California sales office and factory from Germany, but its legacy ERP and finance systems forced staff to rely on spreadsheets, phone and email—causing slow order confirmations, poor production planning, and limited customer responsiveness—without wanting to invest in US hardware or an IT team.

MALA implemented faveo 365 (Dynamics NAV hosted on Microsoft Azure)—integrated with Microsoft Office and CRM and delivered as a managed cloud service—giving remote staff and field reps mobile access and customer portals. Orders now generate confirmations in minutes and work orders take about 3 minutes to process, production planning and inventory reporting are automated and more accurate, forecasting improved, and the company avoided US infrastructure and extra travel costs; MALA is now rolling the cloud ERP out companywide.
