GEICO turbocharges insurance innovation in the cloud

GEICO, one of the largest U.S. private-passenger auto insurers, needed to modernize its digital operations to meet rapidly growing customer demand for mobile and online engagement. The legacy infrastructure limited availability, slowed feature releases, and increased operational overhead, so GEICO set out to deliver 24/7 reliability, faster innovation, and lower costs.

Working with Microsoft and partner Applied Information Sciences, GEICO adopted a DevOps approach and moved tier-1 systems to Azure PaaS in a hybrid-cloud model, automating provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and testing. The result: feature release cycles shrank to about one week, deployments run across separate datacenters with virtually no downtime, disaster recovery and troubleshooting improved, and infrastructure labor and costs were significantly reduced.
