Case Study: Fluffy Fairy Games accelerates player-driven updates and analyzes 1B events/month with Microsoft Azure

A Microsoft Azure Case Study

Preview of the Fluffy Fairy Games Case Study

Gaming studio learns what players want and delivers quickly with the cloud

Fluffy Fairy Games, a Berlin-based mobile studio, built its hit Idle Miner Tycoon in eight weeks with a lean, player-driven approach—releasing weekly updates based on user feedback. When the game scaled to millions of players, the studio faced a challenge: add back-end features (leaderboards, cloud saves) and real-time analytics to respond to player requests without hiring a large back-end team or slowing development.

Fluffy Fairy turned to Microsoft Azure and PlayFab for managed back-end services and built an analytics pipeline (Event Hubs, Stream Analytics, Data Lake, Data Factory, Data Lake Analytics, Azure SQL, App Service) in weeks. The result: weekly feature rollouts, easy A/B testing, and real-time insights while processing about 1 billion events per month, avoiding the cost of 5–10 back-end hires and giving the team scalable infrastructure to focus on game innovation.
