Genscape operates a global network of land, sea, and satellite sensors to deliver real-time intelligence to energy market participants. Rapid growth and a heterogeneous, on‑premises IT stack—combined with proprietary neural‑net models constrained to hourly runs—created scaling, speed, and integration challenges: Genscape needed a single application and data platform to ingest many more sensors and third‑party feeds, increase forecast frequency, and co‑locate data for customers.

Genscape migrated to Microsoft Azure, using App Service, Blob Storage, HDInsight, Azure Machine Learning and SQL Server VMs to consolidate infrastructure and accelerate analytics. The cloud solution enabled much faster prototyping, higher‑granularity and more frequent forecasts, and the ability to codify data‑scientist expertise into repeatable, secure services (including customer sandboxes), supporting rapid product expansion and improved market transparency.
