A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Frame is a cloud-native company that enables designers, engineers, and content creators to run demanding 3D workstation applications (like AutoCAD and Revit) from any device using just a browser. The challenge was that traditional workflows required expensive $5,000–$10,000 workstations or slow, complex VDI deployments that took months to set up, preventing teams from getting the GPU performance, elasticity, and global access they needed.
Frame addressed this by running its service on Microsoft Azure N‑Series VMs with NVIDIA Tesla GPUs and integrating Azure Files, Azure Active Directory, and Resource Manager for streamlined management. The result: NV6 instances delivered about 28% faster graphics than comparable AWS VMs with much larger system and GPU memory, virtual workstations can be provisioned in minutes (an ANSYS course for 1,000 students was set up in an hour), and customers gain workstation-class GPU performance on laptops and tablets with lower capital expense and global reach.
