Firm Uses Identity Management Solution to Develop Cost-Effective Authentication Tool

Portal Solutions, a 55-employee US consulting firm that builds digital workplace and SharePoint solutions, was seeing customers struggle with external-user authentication: provisioning accounts, managing passwords and permissions for consultants, clients, and partners was manual, complex, and costly.

Portal Solutions developed AuthentiMate on Microsoft Azure Active Directory so external parties can sign in with existing social or Microsoft credentials to access SharePoint resources. After piloting the solution, the company simplified identity management, improved the user experience, shortened deployment from months to days, and gained a faster, lower-cost offering with full production planned for early 2014.
