A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Innofactor, a leading Nordic Microsoft-focused IT provider, created Skilli to address a gap in K–12 education: the lack of practical tools to assess 21st‑century skills and individual learning styles. Working with Finnish schools—where teachers already have broad autonomy—Innofactor found that traditional paper self‑assessments produced little usable insight, leaving teachers unable to tailor instruction or accurately track student progress.
Built on Microsoft Office 365 and Azure, Skilli is a web‑based, game‑like self‑assessment tool that uses single sign‑on, visual reports and teacher workspaces to deliver real‑time data. Thousands of teachers and students in Finland now use Skilli to personalize lessons, boost engagement (as in the case of Sami), monitor outcomes across classes and districts, and give cities actionable evidence for pedagogical and funding decisions; data also follows students as they move through school.
