Containerships, a Helsinki-based logistics firm operating 14 vessels and offices in 19 countries, faced steep industry pressure from falling freight margins and volatile demand. Its small IT team struggled to support a fragmented, aging LAN and site-specific servers and applications, limiting the company’s agility and ability to deliver IT services affordably across its network.

Partnering with Vintor, Containerships migrated its entire IT environment to Microsoft Azure—virtualizing 30+ servers, moving 53 applications (including Oracle and SAP), and using Azure RemoteApp and Azure Active Directory to deliver about 120 app services with single sign-on. The cloud solution centralized operations, improved remote collaboration and scalability, allowed continued use of legacy systems, and cut IT costs by roughly 35% annually while keeping cargo and information flowing.
