Finning uses cloud-based workforce to improve employee engagement and onboarding, reduce costs

Finning, one of the world’s largest Caterpillar equipment dealers with more than 10,000 employees, needed to modernize its HR and identity processes while keeping Workday as its core HCM system. The company wanted a centralized directory for global authentication, single sign-on across devices, and automated onboarding and deprovisioning to reduce manual work, security risk, and costs.

Finning joined a private preview of the Azure Active Directory connector for Workday and used Azure AD inbound provisioning to automate account setup, updates, and deactivation. The result was simplified, standardized IT (eliminating custom and third‑party solutions), faster and more secure onboarding/deprovisioning, measurable time and cost savings, improved employee experience and collaboration, and a foundation for global rollout of further cloud projects.
