A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Pier 1 Imports, a national home‑décor retailer, wanted to better connect with customers across stores and digital channels by combining e‑commerce clickstream and point‑of‑sale data to predict purchase intent and personalize marketing. Facing a shift to mobile and online shopping, the company needed a way to use its rich, disparate data to deliver the right message at the right time and differentiate the brand.
Working with Microsoft partner MAX451, Pier 1 piloted a cloud‑based solution using Azure HDInsight, Azure Machine Learning and Power BI to anonymize, model and visualize customer data. The pilot produced predictive product recommendations, enabled a more dynamic, personalized website and more efficient marketing campaigns, and accelerated the retailer’s broader cloud adoption for ongoing analytics and decision making.
