A Microsoft Azure Case Study
CFD support, a Prague-based specialist founded by two CFD Ph.D.s, helps small companies and researchers run complex fluid-dynamics analyses using OpenFOAM and packaged CFD tools for turbomachinery, automotive, and aerospace customers. Their challenge was that realistic CFD problems often require HPC-scale parallel processing—otherwise simulations take days on workstations, limiting iterations, innovation, and access for smaller organizations.
To solve this, CFD support used UberCloud’s marketplace to run its Turbomachinery CFD on Microsoft Azure HPC instances powered by Intel Xeon CPUs and delivered as turnkey software containers. The trial cut a baseline radial-fan simulation from 16.30 hours on two cores to 2.96 hours on 32 cores, demonstrating scalable performance, faster throughput, and pay-as-you-go access to supercomputing power—enabling smaller teams to run larger, more complex studies affordably.
