A Microsoft Azure Case Study
Evoqua Water Technologies, a 100+-year-old provider of water purification and management solutions to major municipalities and Fortune 500 companies, faced a sudden loss of corporate IT after a 2014 divestiture. The company needed to modernize quickly—replacing legacy IT services, unifying scattered customer and field data, and moving from reactive service to continuous, data-driven monitoring and predictive maintenance.
Evoqua chose Microsoft Azure and Dynamics 365, building a cloud-based pipeline that captures sensor data, analyzes it with Azure analytics and HDInsight, stores it in Azure SQL Data Warehouse, and delivers dashboards via Power BI and a customer portal; field crews now use Dynamics 365 on rugged Windows devices for unified service and automated dispatch. Within 16 months Evoqua migrated key systems to the cloud, put 5,000 employees on Office 365, realized about $2.5M in annual savings, improved proactive maintenance and upsell opportunities, accelerated acquisitions onboarding, and earned industry recognition for its data-driven field service.
