ESCP Europe calls on Microsoft Azure to train its students in code

ESCP Europe, the world’s oldest international business school, introduced a 30‑hour Java programming course for 600 students across its Paris, Madrid and Turin campuses. The challenge was to provide a full Android Studio/Java development environment that students could access from any device without requiring each student to install heavyweight software or burden IT with widespread troubleshooting.

Working with partner Exaduo on Microsoft Azure, the school created a standard Windows VM image with Android Studio preinstalled and provisioned 600 personal virtual machines on demand (start-up under 3 minutes) with automated shutdowns to control costs. The result: reliable, high-performance, device‑agnostic access to individual development environments, satisfied students and faculty, and a scalable solution that supports continuing expansion of the course.
